Toshiba and Close the Loop Bring the “Cradle-to-Cradle” Green Recycling Miracle to Life

As modern enterprises advance their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) carbon reduction goals, the mountains of used toner cartridges and ink cartridges piling up in offices often present a major challenge in e-waste management. Since their casings are typically made of hard engineering plastics, traditional disposal methods such as incineration or landfilling cause irreversible environmental damage. However, in the latest international circular resource recycling report released in May 2026, a major industry announcement unveiled the ultimate solution for recycling printing and copying supplies—a groundbreaking breakthrough in the cross-border green collaboration between recycling giant Close the Loop, Toshiba (TOSHIBA TEC), and ETRIA:

  • Material Recycling: The project successfully disassembled and purified over 150 tons of used Toshiba toner cartridges with high precision at a recycling facility in Belgium.
  • Back to the Production Line: This batch of recycled HIPS resin has been safely transported to ETRIA’s production facility in Dieppe, France, where it is being used directly to manufacture the casings for brand-new printer consumables, perfectly realizing a closed-loop “cradle-to-cradle” recycling process for consumables.
